About Ms. Price

I grew up in Mesquite and graduated from Mesquite High School in 1984 - Go Skeeters! I began going to school at the Little Red Schoolhouse followed by Florence Black Elementary and Agnew Middle School before high school.

I completed my bachelor's degree at Texas A&M (College Station) and Tarleton State University (part of the A&M system) in government and journalism in 1990. I spent 2 years working for a state representative in Austin and 12 years in banking before making a huge career move.  In 2004 I completed my teacher certification for Early Childhood through 4th grade and I just completed my Masters degree from Texas A&M Commerce in Elementary Education Reading in May 2013.

When I'm not at school I like to spend time with my family and friends. I also have a fondness for historic properties and I'm currently serving on the board for Historic Mesquite Inc. I enjoy working to preserve the two historic properties in Mesquite - Opal Lawrence Historical Park and the Florence Ranch Homestead. I also enjoy doing craft projects, working in my yard, reading, and listening to music. I especially like songs that have an inspiring and positive message.

I share my home with two fur kids: Gracie and Isabell. They're always sad when I leave for school in the morning and happy to see me when I get home. Gracie is a seven year old gray shorthair and Isabell is a four year old calico. They get along pretty well most of the time, but Gracie is definitely the dominant one.

Summer is my favorite season! I would live at the beach if I could. The beach is also my favorite place to vacation and I'm especially fond of the beaches in South Walton, Florida - between Destin and Panama City. I don't really care for winter.  It's just too cold. But if we get snow here I'm super excited!

I have a niece who will be a senior this year - OH MY! She is a wonderful girl and I try very hard not to spoil her. She is on the Varsity Volleyball team, participates in the Pole Vault event with the Track Team, and she's the Event Planner Chair for Student Council. Her teachers say nothing but great things about her personality and academics. She really is a beautiful girl inside and out. Her plan is to  attend college for a degree in interior design. This past summer she sent about 12 college applications to schools in Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. I just hope she enjoys where ever she goes. I'm nothing but PROUD of her!
